To me the current rules seem fairly adequate under the "ladder" competition.
What is the rationale for your suggestions?

That’s how it was setup in the 1v1 ladder so ppl can just join and go for the #1 spot instead of it taking two weeks or so, then they can defend it from the top.

Its also for people who think they can beat the best guy and this gives them the opportunity to do so instead of being stuck in their current position on ladder.

then whats the point of ranks and climbing? we gonna keep the current rules. #1 defend counts should be from #1 contenders from rank 2 or 3 or it doesnt make sense to have defends from fighting someone rank #10 who cant even beat top 5.

That 1v1 ladder seems fun for sure but that's not a ladder competition strictly speaking (and going over it no wonder why it wasn't able to continue...). Seems fun but accepting those rules now would be a too drastic change to what past vtpkers have established on this ladder for the past decade. Plus you only need 2-3 duels to get to the crown in the current roster anyway, so I don't think anyone would be stuck in their position if they are willing to climb up.
