You are entitled to do as you wish my friend. I was just questioning your reasoning. Personally I think you don't care enough to do the slight upgrades that you would need in order to be comfortable, which is why battle.net doesn't interest you. Something tells me there were people to play with, you just weren't interested at the time :/ And for the record I respect any well rounded opinion and have no problems with you or anyone here.
There's a difference between respecting and caring about an opinion. And yeah, obviously I dont care enough to spend $40 USD to upgrade my zon, I would've done it otherwise. There was a time when I thought the whole gear and item scene in d2 was sick and I liked spending money to have items of value, now I think of it from more of an esports type perspective (given my time in cs and dota 2). The gameplay and the actual player's skill are the parts of the game I appreciate, not so much the character building, gear and item trading stuff. I'm a broke student and there's 1000 other things I'd rather spend $40 USD on, especially if I can still play d2 without spending it.
Anyway, you made it sound like I'm trying to convert the ladder to all be on d2pk. That's not the case. If it were, you'd be right. With the amount of time I currently spend playing amapk I have no right to suggest changes. I just simply wanted some friends to play on d2pk with. You not being one of them, I don't care about your opinion.
