no hl's?
no gtoes?
none of those allowed?

Theyre certainly allowed. They might not do you much good though.

hl is a huge drop in ar from angelic ammy/2xrings
gtoes has cb yes, but gores have cb, ds, and ow
visos on the other hand work for some and not for others

how necessary is 37x 3-20-20s no other options..?

Depends whats your build. 32020s are the most rounded, providing a good mix of dmg life and ar, you could try the all damage approach and use max dmg gcs, etc. The reason why most use 32020s is because it works the best for most
