Played there until level 29; Server is tiny & people are dicks.

And my father palyed on Vilya, so I play Vilya now, as does my wife.

:p

So according to several people, at like level 22 you can't even get new quests unless you pay. Is that true? D:

If that is true, is it a huge bad thing?

That is correct. After you leave bree-land (approx 20-23) the only quests you have access to are the Epic quest line, which is a pittance of exp. In order to continue leveling you have to a.) grind land mobs - which takes forever b.) grind skirmishes, which can work out ok but gets quite boring or c.) Upgrade to VIP or start purchasing quest packs for the zones your playing in. Each quest pack costs ~600 turbine points, although it's MUCH cheaper to just buy $5 of turbine points each month since every time you spend ANY money you get 30 days of VIP access which gives you all the quests.

Bleh, so basically what I was told is correct. This is only a glorified trial of the game?

Well, if I'm correct....

There are deeds you can do that get you Turbine points, so if you work through it and get all the Deeds you can at the beginning... Then start a new char(Different race for a different beginning experience at least from what I've seen), then you can do the deeds again for more points. Eventually, you'll have enough points for the quest pack.

That brings me to my next question, if I buy a quest pack is it for that character only? Or is it account wide?

In the LOTRO store, It tells you if it's account, or char. Quest packs such as MoM, are account wide. In fact, iirc.. ALL premium items in the store are account wide, Except perhaps the NPC's. Other than that, Just go to the store.. Find an item and click 'More' and it'll tell you if it's 1 use, 2 uses, account, or character.

Ah, thanks a lot. Would my plan for unlocking quests by "farming" turbine points actually work?

When you do Deeds, you gain turbine points; With turbine points you can buy more quests, etc. So still better to have premium/Vip but you can still play free; I have VIP account + my fathers & wifes old account which are both now premium, one has a level 60 hunter but their both unused now ;)
