Funny story, found this in normal act 5 in my first playthrough, returning to the game:

Started up again because this was one of 3 existing games my 70-year-old father will still play. We're hopelessly re-addicted now.

I knew I had to buy it with how badass blessed hammer/concentration pallies were back then. At the time didn't have the crazy high price to buy it due only a few days of playing in normal - Ended up selling almost every item in my bank and character to afford it. Even sold my armor... was naked fighting after.


ANYWHO, held onto this for a few months but never had the use for it. One of the nice people I met mentioned something like this was could be valuable in LLD. Then pointed me to this website, a place that the 90's never quite stopped? Where have I been all these years!? May I stay? ^ _^

Any ideas if this is actually helpful in low level duels?

Should I start a paladin? Or trade it? (PvP my favorite though)

@ Belaradon - this made me lol so hard. But then it set in, does the ignore targets defense apply to blessed hammer???? O.o

I don't really know the mechanics that indepth via spell vs. melee attack types. Physical damage is considered a spell right or wrong? Maybe that's why damage resistance exists? (Fade, the assassin ability works to prevent damage as if it were a spell or a few uniques I've looked up).

But I still don't know if it applies. Its kinda nuts because some of the runewords don't even make sense where it's like "attack ignores armor" but then -25% armor per hit or something like that. The original blizzard team was hardened D & D coolguys so they didn't do most things that were pointless.

That could mean this is essentially very strong for pally. If not that way - do hammerdins even auto attack?

blessed hammer is a spell. spells dont go through defense checks. even physical dmg spells, like mind blast, ignore defense.

only weapon-scaling skills use ar, like multishot, whirwind. some exceptions here and there, like kicks (has ar) and guided arrow (no ar).

"ignore target defense" doesnt work in pvp anyways.
