Does base style matter? Example hand scythe vs claw vs katar etc. Do you still only need 20ias on the claw for max trap laying speed?

staffmods can spawn only spawn starting at hand scythes. and the higher tier (greater claws) is lvl 33. so hand scythes are the only option, sadly.

ias needed for 9fpa trap laying will depend on your gear ias and BoS lvl. typically, a shael in weapon is always needed (hand scythe + shael rune + lvl 4 BoS from sojs/vmagi/base point).

there are calculators online that tell you exactly how much you need for each.

So just saying I’m using a temp claw with 2 traps that isn’t a hand scythe. If I shael it, will I hit max trap laying speed? It wouldn’t differ than if I had a plain hand scythe with 2 traps would it?

Yup, claws, hand scythe, and katar all have -10 speed.
