from what i remember, basically all of nightmare is fair game,

Nightmare: Cows, Tombs, Flayer Jungle, Trav, Chaos Sanctuary, Worldstone Keep (not baal)

I find more 30 items on nm chaos, meph, Trav cows. I get more 9-18 from normal chaos, frigid, meph, Trav. If you want ancient armor for barb , I only find in nm chaos or hell. I get all my 18 jewels in normal.

really all NM is viable. early acts for 18-30. later acts more for 30.

I hit shenk/eldritch in fridges highlands, then tele up from arreat plateau to the entrance to crystalline passage and slam the unique there, then portal back to town and ruin Pindleskin's day.
