I want to have an "okay" instant-damage dealer on jav side on my guest plaguer. Lightning bolt on this char is pretty unimpressive without KB, so I'd like to get some physical throw dmg. So far all I have is a 4/30/96 dmg ceremonial, but hopefully I will find higher someday.

From my calcs with the gear I currently have it will look something like this (46% crit not factored in):
Normal throw = 500 physical damage, MDR bugged by sojs
Fury = 500 physical damage, 300 lightning damage to take care of the MDR bug
Bolt = 640~ all lightning damage

I was looking at it like this:

Normal Throw
Pros: Zero mana cost, +1 extra to Poison Javalin which adds +2k dmg/64 secs to psn jav and +350 dmg/18 sec to plague
Cons: MDR bugged by sojs so damage suffers severely. In this case the pvp dmg is cut by about 33% if I don't have enough light dmg to negate the mdr bug.

Lightning Fury
Pros: Has 300 lightning damage which is enough to negate the MDR bug from sojs and then some, so the pvp damage is noticeably higher.
Cons: 15 mana cost (but still have Normal Throw is mana runs out..), 1 less point to psn jav (see above)

Pretty much I'm afraid that MDR bug will gimp normal throw damage to the point that it won't be worth using. Lightning bolt is already pretty crappy without KB (it does like 20 pvp dmg after mdr and res). I just feel like the ability to throw 50-100 pvp damage javs will be useful in enough situations that Fury could be worth it. But when I read Cadagan's guide most people were speaking against using Fury.

This is all assuming that the +light dmg on LF will add to the item-based light dmg from sojs to negate the mdr bug... please correct me if I'm wrong because then the choice will be easy haha.

first off the light dmg on fury should stack with sojs and any other sources just fine (thats the basic concept of the shocker afterall), afaik that's how it worked for LBolt zons that people made at lvl 12 ranged vlld

Well for mdr on common setups you have sshroud (11), vmagi (13), string (15), sshroud + string (26), and vmagi + string (28)

with your only source being sojs for light dmg you deal 2-24, after pvp = .34 to 4.08 dmg, after res = .085 to 1.02

so optimally you're dealing 1 light dmg, factoring in only pvp penalty and res. then you subract MDR overflow from your phys dmg (500 throw x .17 = 85)

so just to double check maths:

sshroud (11) ........85-11=74 (13% reduction)

string (15) .........85-15=70 (17.5% reduction)

sshroud + string (26) ......... 85-26=59 (30.5% reduction)

vmagi + string (28) ......... 85-28=57 (33% reduction)

So worst case you get a 57 pvp dmg-ish zero mana projectile (that can be dex glitched to be invisible), versus a 15 mana non invisible 20 pvp dmg lfury. versus non max mdr users even more so.

Whats your goal with this attack? To deter people sitting in your face zealing or the likes?

Is that fury damage with a standard eth eth plaguer shield or with a 3sox damage kite?

Glitching boots, glitching javs, 3% frw scs, hows a zon supposed to get any +life these days?! Sheesh
I wondered if fury would glitch invisible somehow haha.

Those damage numbers are with spirit shroud and a 2x eth shield. I just wanted to be able to pack a little punch on jav side, approx similar or greater than my GA damage, since a lot of the time it’s a bad idea to switch to bowside. I figured if I could do 50+ PvP dmg with 100+ crits at nearly 50% crits then it’d probably get some good damage in vs dins and barbs over the course of a duel. Think it’s worth it? I could always just use bolt + throw, I guess I thought fury would be taking the best from both worlds but maybe not haha

i dont think invis glitching LF is possible.

if you're wearing sshroud, you have 10 rep right there. 5 more from gloves. you could get more from ammy and circ. then u could socket your circ and sshroud with max/ar/mana jewels and skip skulls in those slots. especially with eth-eth shield. could boost your throw dmg, along with Crit Strike, to the point it does OK dmg. the other thing to consider is that norm throw can be blocked, which is typically BAD, but with no KB you could use it to kite a bit. block lock them then follow up with a plague while they're stuck.

could also go full on crazy and hard pt Valkery then run 2x shields 2x javs. one pair of typical 4-30s and a set of poons with a 3x dmg jewels Kite. namelock Valks for the stylish last hits instead of worrying about bow. saves pts for GA that can get you valk. u can wsg to move as well with that setup.

I have ed/stats in helm sockets and 9-17 jewel in shroud. I’m thinking of putting a 72 max plate on there as well. Geez I thought fury would be so sweet! Haha noobed again

Update: prob still going to stat fury  I still don’t see why not! It does more damage and I’ll have normal throw either way if I ran out of mana. The main thing to consider I guess is the extra psn dmg vs the extra 1h phys dmg

mdr is calculated before resists, so you don't need to factor resists when calculating by how much mdr will reduce your dmg.
