there's a pretty huge disconnect between most popular and highest quality in most media
music being the most notable example
but definitely applies to video games too

Check twitch and take a look at fortnight, over 200k+ viewers all the time.

It blew league of legends outa the water. And league was #1 game for over 5 years. Drake / Ninja / Amazon made fortnight what it is.

League of legends is now piss dead cuz of fortnight lol. Any streamer is promoting twitch prime aswell. Guess what that does? Free skins on fortnight / gliders etc and fortnight only. Free subscriptions etc.
