This is a work in progress. Posted on request. I will add pic's etc and repost when i have the time. In the meantime:
LvL 49 Pure Rabies:
Druids @ MLD (without teleport) are the weakest class (1v1) at this level bracket. On EU where/when I host tournaments I allow fury druids to LvL to 59 (Better gear, but the same intrinsic flaw of being unable to catch many opponents) however thats a different topic and a different build. Here we are looking solely at Rabies49. To quote from Myrddrall9: "The purpose of ... guide is to reintroduce a relatively unknown and underestimated dueler to D2JSP. That dueler is the (removed) rabies wolf druid. Now if you are looking for a dueler that will clear a pub game 7v1 then please look elsewhere. If you are expecting to win every single duel you take part in look elsewhere."
The benefits of this build:
1. Cheap to build
2. Fast on the ground (it has to be)
3. Very strong in TvT
3. You dont need alot of stash items (you might want them though!)
4. 1-hit kill vs certain opponents
The drawbacks of this build:
1. Hard to catch opponents
2. Any fondness or sympathy people have for the plight of druids @ lld / mld / hld fury druids in D2 is erradicated. Some people will hate dueling vs this thing
3. Weak vs melee (Barbs / Smiters) and reliant on casters to make the mistake of coming too close
Gear:
HelmetJalal Mane (Psn Facet)
It has everything and more that you need. great. you dont want a 3shape 30 frw circlet or coronet because we want to bug all sources of frw (i.e. str bug boots + invent frw).
this + a GC 12fhr = all the FHR you will ever need.
ArmorShaftstop vs Melee (Psn Facet)
Jewelers Dusk of the Whale (4sox, 100 life) vs everything else (x4 Psn Facets)
ShieldWhitstans - Cheap and effective -- you need 100dex for max block @ 49
3 Sox Dragon Shield of Deflection -- you need 142dex for max block @ 49
The requirements for DOD are 91 str and Thundergods is 110 (Oath naga is 111). ie. you need 20(21) str from shield and you can get x3 9str (27 dex) from jewel = 47 stats (since further str is wasted), therefore a DOD is only barely better then whitstans. However you can also get 4repl and 7 fhr which allows the DOD setup to race ahead of whitstans. Finally if we want to use the str from shield to wear boots, is 90 str + 2str small charm = 92 str, meaning we only need a further 18 str to wear TG (or +1 to wear Oath Naga)
2nd slot: 3 Sox Kite (or Dragon) Shield of Defelction (x3 facets)
RingsRaven (or 2, but we usually say 2 is bm)
Rare stat ring (look for as many of these mods as possible: (120 ar 15 str 15 dex 10 repl 30 life 90 mana 30 cold res / 30 light res)
SoJ
Amulet3shape 100 life
2shape 60 life (+ as many of these as you can get: 15 str 15 dex 10 repl 90 mana all res 20)
1 Druid 80 life 10 frw 10 repl (I don't advocate frw from amulet (we want to str bug our frw).
Note on amulets: You do NOT want FRW on amulet, since it cannot be strength bugged. The entire problem with MLD rabies (or any shape druid) is catching opponents. While some might say "get more frw" the better phrase would be "get more str bugged frw". You want as little frw from items not str bugged as you can get. (this is why I do not advocate sanders on any build @ lld whatsoever and why i dont think much of highlords 1.08 @ hld).
BootsAldurs (or whatever 40frw or 30frw boots allow you to str bug)
I advocase double upped "Storm Tracks" on the EU servers - easy to bug the boots and allows you to wear Thundegods Vigor while using a 2 hander.
BeltString of ears
24fhr 10 OW 80 life dual res.
Thundergods vigor (get an Eth one, less str required).
DONT get mavina belt (remember FRW from invent or str bugged boots ONLY) and DONT get Str on your belt (since TG's is your highest requirement item).
You dont want str on your belt as you need to be able to switch smoothly to string when required.
GlovesThrang Oul Gloves
1 Hand Weapon6 sox war axe with x3 shael and x3 15ias 15 all res jewels (105 ias)
If its "anything goes" and you dont need block or res, get a harmony cho-ku-no
2nd slot:
6 sox war axe x6 facets poisen 5/5
Kite of Deflection x3 facets poisen 5/5
Once you hit your opponent, chase after them if they run away, on 2nd slot (more damage).
2 Hand Weapon5 sox warfork with x4 15ias 15all res and x1 whatever the hell you want
if you dont need the res, put 5 shaels in it (or have a 2nd one)
if you dont use Thundergods vigor, get a brandistock (lower requirements, same speed).
Charmsx1 GC 1 shape 12fhr (this plus Jalal is all the frw you will need).
x7 GC's 1 shape 7frw
x2 GC's 1 shape 30frw
x1 2str / 17 mana (or 5 all res, whichever you prefer)
x1 20life 17 mana
x8 sc's 5frw + adds (or 3frw if you can't afford 5frw's
FRW = 89
Life = 80
fhr = 12
+ w/e other mods you get from your 5frw small charms. if you can't afford 5frw small charms then use 3frw/5 all res + use mavina belt.
In certain matches you wont need all your frw, which is why you will have GC's 1 shape 30 life in stash (max life for this level).
SkillsMax Poisen Creeper
Max Rabies
1 point Oak, Raven and get 5 Wolves total.
All remaining points into Lycanthropy.
If you are 1-point fury'ing, then make an Oath Naga on Ladder (people don't make these so you will have do it yourself) or for the time being use a Oath SC on Nonladder. However I don't see pure rabies being hindered by not skilling/using Fury.
