In the interests of transparency, please note that I have been researching several ideas around seeding players for tournaments. On that basis, it is my intent to seed/rank the top players for all future tournaments.

The idea here is that I need to consistently reward the top players while making it attractive for players to try to make the Semi-Finals of tournaments (while reducing the total number of duels).

My plan is as follows: Seed the top 4 players (with their specific build) from this tournament so that they will automatically qualify for the Knockout Phase of the next tournament (18). Ranks 5 through to 8 will be Top seeded in the group stage followed by previous tournament winners/runners up (that did not compete in the previous tournament), followed by everyone else in random* order.

*Again, some of this may change before the start of tournament 18, but this is the general idea which I am currently looking at.

If its last 16 KO Phase > (Top seeded player(1st), 1st from group stage(2nd); Rank 2 Seed (3rd), Rank 2 from group stage (4th) with the same applying to 3rd and 4th etc. respectively.

The idea here is to reward the top players while making the group stage (hopefully) more competitive, giving more players the opportunity to score well. This will also allow for 2 (or more!) groups @ the group stage, meaning (a lot) less duels will be needed to be completed throughout the tournament. The knock on effect of this is that there will be more tournaments per year and therefore more chances to qualify as a seed (top4). The plan would be then to have a tournament at the end of the year comprising only of players that have been seeded 1~4 throughout this years tournaments (I would plan on having a fg prize for such a tournament at the end of the year).

I’m conscious that a lot of players come and go, and this therefore is an attempt by me to encourage the best players to continue competing, and rewarding them based on their skill. A lot of players don’t have (or won’t have in the future) a lot of time to play, so I feel this is long overdue.

Im aware that there are a lot of hard counters to a number of builds (i.e. Trapper Vs Bowa, Sorc Vs Trapper, Bowa vs Smiter etc.) but I would hope that with this new seeding system that it will offer more opportunities to a wider variety of builds to reach the Semi Finals, Finals, and win throughout the year (due to there being more tournaments throughout the year).

Finally as there will be several groups @ the group stage going forward, there will now always be a specific cut off date for entry.

Happy to hear peoples thoughts on this(!)

Does it mean that the top4 players won't participate in the group stage and will start playing in the KO phase? I may read wrong.

correct, the top4 wont participate in the group stage (unless they decide they want to use a different build, in which case they wont be seeded).

correct.

Then, I'd rather not be in the top4 in order to play some more duels in the tournament... we all know that meeting an antichar in playoffs is like fliping a coin.

It would be sad to be one of those top4 seeded players, meet an antichar in first round and say bye to tour.

Summarising:
1-2 months waiting for the group stage to be finished: 0 duels cuz top4 seeded player.
KO stage:1 duel, 1 loss, bye tour.
1 more month waiting till new tour starts.

agreed ^___^'

I told everyone:

if you have not completed your duel by the weekend, all players ranked lowest in each match up, will be TKO'd.
