Balance. There are a hell of a lot of other unbalanced match-ups that no one is trying to ammend. Also there should also a balance between fun and competitiveness which is equally important. If people focused more on this then a bit of common sense would mean the need for a lot less rules.
I rarely play sorc on EU anymore although I used to and I found that particular duel boring as hell if it was meant to be played to current rules. I am also voicing the opinions of other people who I have spoken to about this who's main chars are sorcs.
Also I have a fair bit of experience of a sorc vs a tele barb so I know how that matchup plays out too.
If a sorc wants to walk/run a lot at the edges of a necros screen, and is reasonably patient it shouldn't lose regardless of prison. Why the aversion to it if in your opinion it doesnt matter? (also arguably its slightly different with a libby as a libby can get stuck on a bonewall by swinging at it trying to charge away whereas a sorc can keep moving along the wall).
Anyways I've spoken enough. I wont say any more on EU rule discussions as its only the prerogative of top players to do so.
From what I gather the suggestion of tele staves isn't limited to duels vs sorc? There is no valid reason to allow tele vs anything other than sorc, and that match up can be balanced without teleport. I'm not opposed allowing it on barb vs sorc, but then ES (or anything else) shouldn't be banned, as on east.
My aversion is towards unnecessarily long rules - if it adds no balance, it has no place.
