Have a look at the KO phase of each of the previous tournaments @ 30 and 49. I recognise your point, and it is valid, and I will try it @ the 49 tournament in the new year, but if something is not broken, then why try to fix it mid-tournament? better to test it in a new tournament then to potentially upset things this close to christmas.
re: 8 / 16, Again, a valid point, I personally don't mind if only 8 players progress, but then I have a nice high score. 1 extra duel is not going to be the end of the world and remember, the more the merrier, and it is christmas after all...
The only thing here is to have a strict time frame for people to complete their KO phase duels. If its deemed to tight, then yes 8 players might be a better option, however, if there is time, why not allow for 1 more duel.
Mini's concerns are the number of duels to be completed, and for that reason yes, we might have to have a look at it. However your concerns & Harabec's @ 49 are that you are not rewarding the highest ranked players enough. Again, I have said for 49 I will look at it next tournament but you have to bear in mind that the best players should not be afraid to duel players ranked so much lower then them, and by organising the KO phase like this, it gives alot of players a slightly better chance to progress making the results tighter, and therefore, more interesting and competitive duels.
