Briefly, Charge Weapon, with the ability to Smite.

Oath's

there are realistically 2 types of Oath to consider:

Oath SC [ 50 ias ] Range 1. 10 speed (slow) Approx 250-400 damage - Way better charge damage, inferior range in terms of smiting. Probably better then a Naga vs a Bowa due to the insane charge damage boost. With Oath SC you need to use Fana to attain 7fpa. (with lvl 3 fana you need 60ias)
or
Oath Naga [ 50 ias ]. Range 2. 0 speed (faster) Approx 100-300 damage - Inferior Charge damage, superior range in terms of smiting. Probably better then a SC vs Barb. 86ias required for 7fpa without fana or 40ias required with lvl 3 fana.

I would use the SC when charging more and the Naga when smiting more. will do a few ft100's for comparison. Alternatively, using a rare:

Rare Charge Weapons
Hyperion Javs [ 40ias rare ] Range 3. -10 speed (fastest). With 380%ed, Approx 150-400 damage. this is better then an Oath Naga (thus I should never use an Oath Naga when I have such a rare), it has approx the same max damage as Oath SC but lower min damage, but faster attack frame, thus, to me, is superior then an Oath SC. 60IAS required (without needing Fana) thus 40ias from weapon + 20ias from gloves = for 7fpa, thus can Vigor Charge. AKA i dont need to use ias jewels with this weapon smiting. it requires less strength then either type of Oath, but requires more dex.

In relation to this guide I will need to post the optimal setup vs each build / class noting there are 3 weapon choices:

1. Charge weapon (which can alternate to Smite Weapon)
2. FoH weapon
3. Smite weapon

The Optimal TvT setup will be 45% DR, Charge Weapon and FoH Stick on switch [ with 600+ mana ]

for "GM" 3K FoH, i will have much less then 3K foh vs ama, due to wearing shaft (not that foh is needed), but it also means less Foh vs all melee as well.

with 10 skillers, rare amulet, 5 RBF Stick, 4 RBF Dusk and 2 RBF Circlet I attain damage just under the 3K tournament treshold (2.9K), leaving me with 22 stat points after Holy Shield, Medi and Vigor have been skilled.
lvl 4 fana, + fllail + 60ias = max smite speed.

I experimented Dusk + 2 handed in the past but Peace is simply the dream armor vs casters so you are then stuck with str requirements.
again, vs casters you can wear str from belt but overall my opinion is no, 1 hander is sufficient or 2 hander is just not worth it.


if you're so deadset on the +2 crit from peace, why overlook insight? no more mana worries and the armor slot is open for a robo'd dusk to make resists a non-issue. we all know the damage they put out at level 30 just on a hdin, at 49 you're still going to be lethal. we get wrecked by stalagmites only being 3 soc maximum, else you wouldnt find a better charge weapon at 49

None of the MLD paladins on EU ever used an Insight, but just because they never used it does not mean that it is not great/viable. The issues as I see them are twofold - no %Block and Strength Requirements. %block can be ignored vs elementals/magic in 1v1 and you can have Shield/Oath on switch in TvT. So, Strength requirements: Broadly I can see a method to lose minimal life in 1v1 in order to attain insight, but the question is, is insight actually needed to win the match, at the cost of lost life (albiet minimal) which may be more beneficial in other matchups.

to answer your question, 1v1 vs say, a Sorc or Necro, I see no issue with exploring the insight option. with strength attained by Str Belt (Rare/Craft/Set + 4 Sox Dusk life (x4 9str 30 ed + Adds) and hard stating between 9 and 25 Str (this is me thinking of different item combinations).
For TvT its not viable noting you will almost always need 45% DR and you will simply lose too much life stating to 185 without the dusk Str jewels.

Frank your VT question is really, where do I drop my remaining skill points after attaining 3K FoH, right? my view here is that Smite damage, and not charge, should be the attack type to be boosted, but dropping points in vigor is also really tempting.
I think in terms of a guide i need to pretend that everyone is using a Oath SC in order to make a staple guide and then comment on the rare options and benefits attached to that. no point making a guide when it requires an impossible to find item.
in the immediate i would suggest you acquire an Oath Naga AND and Oath SC if you dont have similar rare.
