@ lvl30 u can reach like 3xx-4xx def on a helm

actually 375 is the highest def possible (100ed eth grim helm)

so let's compare
ar: with around 400base +1250 from eq/inv i get
~4100 with 150%bonus
~4900 with 190%bonus
->~15%difference

whereas the defense: ~20base +1250 (armoury parts) = 1270
with 172def helm its 1442
with 375def helm its 1645
with around 260%ed from shout+ironskin thats
~5200 with 172def helm
~6000 with 375def helm
-> ~13% difference

so it's basically ar vs defense trade-off.. overall the effectiveness is equal

well visio seems useless for me in lld, and when u want to make a char based on defense i wouldnt go for only 50 % of whats possible, + dont forget the jewels, which can add another 80 def + 120 ar / adds
but i guess its a matter of playstyle and what ur prefering after all ^^

/E my barb reaches like 5k + ar w/o visio and alot ar in armor or helm
