Update (will PM all users).
The registration period for the tournament is coming to an end on the 11th of November. I may, or may not, allow new entrants after that date, depending on a case-by-case basis (and commitment to commit as many duels as possible ASAP).
Users should seek to complete a minimum of 5 duels per week from the 11th of November and should actively be seen to be attempting to complete duels by posting in the topic. The Group stage itself will end on the 02nd of December at which point the KO stage will begin.
As the KO stage is direct elimination, I would expect that there is enough time in December for everyone to complete their duels. I must stress that users will be expected to complete their KO duels ASAP.
One thing that I have been asked is why I continue to allow players to register for the tournament when it is currently under way. There are several reasons for this:
1. I stated, at the start of the tournament, that the registration period would be from the original post date, up until the 11th of November. I see no strong reason to change this stance. This is a Christmas Tournament and the time frame for the tournament will take us well into December.
2. Some players have completed few, if any, duels. It seems reasonable to me to continue to allow new entrants to join, which will complement the groups in the event of drop-outs.
3. There is a FG prize associated with this tournament but as well as that, it is, where possible, an inclusive tournament rather then an exclusive tournament. i.e. The idea here is to help the community to grow, and closing the door on (new) participants is the last thing we should be looking to do.
4. In relation to pooled players, as noted, a % of players will invariably drop out. To pre-empt an imbalance between the two groups I am man-managing all new entrants in order to ensure that (a) the groups are balanced and (b) That there will both be a similar number of each class per group, and overall number of players in each group.
I have 3 potential new entrants on ferdi accounts, a Bowa, A ESFB and a Trapper. In addition I know of 3-4 users who may still register. Once the registration period has ended I will start enforcing time frames for duels to be completed. I would urge everyone in the meantime, new and old, to practice when you can, be polite to your opponents, leave rage/flame at home and try to be both considerate and reasonable at all times while completing as many duels as possible.
Some Reminders:
1. You can change your gear at any time between rounds.
2. If both players died, the person that died first loses the round.
3. No overly defensive play.
4. FT5’s should not last more then 30 minutes, unless both participants agree. I don’t mind if you agree to a FT3 instead, just find agreement with your opponent and post in the topic.
5. Smiter may use 85 Fire res VS FB.
6. Nec may use 200% Cold Res vs Blizz (150 VS FO) + 2 Ravens OR 275% Cold res (225% VS FO) + 1 Raven.
7. Check your resistance limits before dueling (especially VS Cold).
8. Nec may use 90% Fire Res Vs Sorc OR 85% + 1 absorb
9. Be polite and reasonable at all times. Rage/flame is not acceptable.
HF and GL.
