what happened in 2008 is as follows: ALL of the accounts were SUSPENDED, not DELETED. 12-18 months later some users attempted to log into the accounts and were successful. Word was spread around. My guess is that all accounts where suspended, the suspension ended, time passed (say the 6 month window you stated) and accounts then naturally expired, however between the lifting of the suspension date and the 6 month expiry date from end of suspension date, accounts could be resurrected and this was discovered.

if you don't believe me, ask gep. He was one of the biggest item collector's @ EU since inception. Anyone thats old will know him. I told him at the time, he tried his accounts and got into a bunch of them (not all). I ended up with the plague pale stygians (MLD). most of the item collectors were crushed at the time since they were hit the worst. They simply quit the game.

I believe you because one of my cd keys was just suspended not banned.

I recognize the name gep, used to have quite a few of his items in TR back then iirc? didnt realize they would only suspend for 'closed(8)'



this sounds like you might get lucky then dude. if you didnt get hit last time with a suspension, then maybe they will only suspend you this time instead of full blown ban. GL

Yes it was a suspension. its advised that anyone banned (ever) for any reason, if continuing to play the game, re-attempts logon every 6 months. I think the problem alot of the collectors had however was that the char's were player not found (i.e. name taken), or simply didnt know it was a suspension, not a full ban. (even if blizzard at the time called it a ban, it was only a temp ban).
