Some items will naturally be a trophy, however that does not always mean that plain magic items are not better.
Non FRW circlets @ MLD always have to be compared to a 3/20 2sox.
3/20 2sox = removing 1 skiller you have the same effect as a 2/20 rare, but:
3/20 30life 51 mana (x3 20/17 sc's instead of 1/30 skiller)
the jewel in the above rare is a 9/9//8/15, so pretending 1 is already in the magic circlet, we will say for argument that the magic would have 2 of those, or rather:
3/20 30life 66mana 9 str 9 dex 8 energy. ( 3/20/30life 51 mana 9 str 9 dex 8 energy 15 mana ) + 9/9/8/15 =
3/20 30life 153 mana 9 str 9 dex 16 energy.

i.e. 24 life (rare) vs 53 mana (magic). thats very very close (sorc would generally not stat vita @ mld) and when picking one its a toss between "trophy" and "affordability".
