entries to a pre-lim tourney? that would make sense. i think he means it as a starting ladder list though and is calling that a pre-lim which is where my confusion is coming from.

the only reason pre-lims for a pvp ladder take place, is to avoid ppl feeling the starting rankings weren't fair because of their starting position being less favorable than the other ppl, and so then a pre-lim would be to give everyone a fair shake in a tourney setting to determine the rankings. starting a ladder for the prelim to a ladder is not something i have ever seen done before because it is redundant.

this is genuine confusion as i have a vt and might join it if it can make sense, as i have friends who have joined it and playing with them will be fun. but it is starting out already looking like a mess with a pre-lim ladder to a ladder, which to me as a former ladder host and participant makes zero sense.

i am only assuming this is what danz meant because he is a very backwards person and the 1 through 7 list he compiled is not in order of sign up which leads me to believe he actually randomized a list to start a prelim ladder to a ladder.

I've done the traditional tournament pairings in the past and it was mostly dysfunctional and hard for some contestants to organize. I dont want to come across as unfair or procrastinating so I decided to create the randomized listing/ladder. Sense it was randomized the official listing would only be applied after the time provided has expired. This helps create a more accurate list with out the entire paring mess from a traditional tournament format.

in instances where you dont want to come across as unfair and you don't want to wait for a dysfunctional prelim tourney the thing that makes the most sense is a first come first serve mentality where you list the ladder on order of signup.

whether the ladder officially kicks off now or on the 29th the original list you created is the starting point. calling it a prelim just adds confusion since a prelim ladder for a ladder is redundant unless you plan to hand out a FG prize to the person who stayed #1,2,3 etc the longest, the date it starts does not matter.

calling it a prelim is just an attempt to add a false sense of fairness really and since literally everyone who has signed up is chill and relax there really isn't any need for that. especially since this is not a prelim by the standard definition unless it were a tournament to determine ranks because in a prelim everyone is offered the same fair shake and #7 on the random list isn't given the same fair shake in the "prelim ladder" format as the person in #1-6.

That's correct, both only hold value for one spot in the Rankings.

Just to be clear , any one with 2 characters can only represent one character at a time when either defending or challenging also that member would have to declare which character they will be using in response to defending or challenging.
