Hmm you may be right. Lets go w/ 100% optimal helm stats you got:
magic - 3 sockets 1 ww 3 bo 3 nat res 80 life
rare 1 - 2 sockets 1 ww 3 bo 3 nat res 60 life 1 barb 30% CR +5 LR/5% bonus AR and some other suffix (lets say 25% PLR)
I consider the 30% CR great, and superior to visionary in every scenario sans bvb. other two are nice to have but not anything game-changing, imo.
Optimal jewel socket for magic - 20% ed/6 str/9 dex/30% CR. CR washes with the rare, you get 15 stats (potentially) for 60 pre-bo life and the slight dmg/ar boost respectively on top of the 20% ed
+1 barb on rare - 5%ed/8% ar from mastery point w/ possible 1% more crit, 1% frw from increased speed, 3-5% resist all from natty resistance depending on skill level, 3% more life from bo (assuming no prebuff helm)
They're really close, i still think Sack's helm with those 3 staffmods would be preferable, w/out too much # crunching.
But i'm probably way wrong
