he's just getting caught up in word play with you, the item doesn't have the word absorb on it, so he is treating it as if max resists is more like stacking resists than absorbing.

he's obviously wrong, since in hld tournaments hotspurs/infernos would count as your one piece of gm sorb even tho absorb isn't listed on it and stacking resists is getting more than the max 75 so that you can try to null pierce.
