if u are in the top 4 u can challenge for every spot that does not exist
i.e. the player in 1st spot can challenge 2-4, 2nd spot can challenge 1, 3, 4 and 5
this is only for the top 4, as they cant challenge up.

...and there i was thinking i would have the 1st char in (b) tier aaaaaaaaaaahhh. my duel (5-0!) vs hosen does not count.
