Well historically rare jewels have been scant, so much so that even finding 3 complimentary jewels for a robo was hard. so people chose to put the more expensive jewels into something like a lifer plate or akod. the logic checks out. a Robo is a white item with 2-4 shael runes, which devalues the jewels more than a lifer plate filled with all high quality jewels. so people would 24 max or 20-15 a robo, which is actually closer in dmg than you might expect on the output.

today it seems people can get a duped jewel with ed/max/dex/reqs/res/etc for the same price that a 24 maxer used to cost. pre-mass bots 24 maxers were like mid range currency, plain 15 lifers were even still in use on NL on many chars. I used to sell sets of 40x when ladder rerolled with ease.

it was common for a time, iirc, for 4 shael robos for 8/9fpa setups. i always hated them, but some people really preferred them. Imagine filling the last slot with a 500 fg rare jewel, some people did. always seemed like a waste to me unless you need the reqs. rare bows were essentially non-existent and almost none were up to a robo's dmg output, unless u had a PP bow like runedart, which at the time was considered BM in zvz circles.

So no1 gotcha.

quite a lot of people used 24's in their robo ashwoods. hell, people frequently used 22s and 23s in their robos, Jell-O still has her robo with shael/shael/nef/44max. it was always a question of do you want the potential for the highest max damage crit with 24s or do you want more consistent damage with 20/15s

If you make a robo outa 24 max jewels ill supply the hel rune.

Obv you want more consistent damage.

24 maxers are also a little bit more common now than 20/15s in trading.

when i PC i consider the robo to be the cost of the jewels x .5 to .75 depending on the jewels. if they are basic 24 maxers its closer to .5 or lower, high quality unduped rares closer to .75

the base, the shael, and the ever elusive "these jewels took me forever to find on ladder" costs don't factor in once it rolls to NL, and pc'ing on ladder is a fools errand.

i prefer a robo setup with bfists/SoE, which i believe leaves you with 2-3 shaels depending on whether u want 10 or 11 fpa. I've never had a godly rare circ with base mana, so i prefer a slower fpa and the DR/Fhr/Life

But wheres the cbf if not on death belt tbh

imo 24 maxers are fine, I value 15/20's higher if u already have a higher base Min Dmg. Like 5min/9dex rings and or min-max or dex/ed jools on circ.
Im trying to find another rare jewel to finish my robo on Birdy, but as snipa said u dont wanna put diffrent tiers of jewels on it. any sugestions to what the last jewel should look like?
this is what i was considering together with two shaels ofc:
