That currency system is better than ingame gold, you can get many Orbs kinds in few ways, as drop or as NPC sell recipes.
Game changed few times with new patches, so last one changed much things like spell animations etc.
Same drops? There is 60+ uniqes atm, rares are best but you can reroll magics to imbue it with right Orbs. Sox are randomly linked so you can support main skill gems, with new patch we have now auras (can be supported by gems too) so more builds possible.
Is there 2 acts + Maelstrom of Chaos after 4th difficulty. I dont get what you are talking about, there is a passive skill tree planner on the main page so you can think about your build before, then go first for skills what help you with each difficulty. You dont like a free to choose passive skill system where you can try alternative things? You can use any skill gem on any char if you can deal with str dex intelligence requirements for skill gem level. Only your imagination can stop you or let you create better builds.

Story of this first part =>
- Client Download OK, the launcher was good enough and I was able to recover data quickly / easily.
- Once on the home screen it's still okay (but no more) our character (or rather the camera) is placed on the deck of a boat.
A moment later, after logging in, you end up in the hold of the same boat having to select a character class.
This sequence immediately made me think about the campfire Diablo 2, where each character (very typical) is one step forward and gave us a demonstration of his skills.
So far so good (or almost).
The animation of the Witch is simply laughable. : Lol:

I take upon myself and revives my character stranded on the beach (why? I know, I went from phase => standing in the ship's hold to spread inert on the beach without any phase transition). Oo
Around me a club placed on the ground (I collect) and two other bodies.
Of course whenever I touch one it becomes a zombie and stumbles / food before the second attack me.

I travel on the beach (the character animation also leaves much to be desired and seems straight out of a time that less than 20 years can not know) and meet other zombies (we saw more original).
The fights are soft and badly wanked, the animation of my barbarian is more than lame (it's the same standard as the skip function in Skyrim) but worse! : Shock:

So! After killing the MINIBOSS out of nowhere I am invited to go to town.
City that is not apparent, I just see a door, and nothing behind.
When I move the mouse over the door, an old white texture (empty) just replace it. Oo
I click => ottoman loading screen.
15sec later I return to the previous screen and now I can move in the said town (which did not appear qq moments earlier). Oo
Very ugly city and made me re-think on Diablo 2 (again).
To my astonishment full of players of any level virevolent around me. Oo
I see even one who is lvl 61! : Shock: (if this was a player and not an NPC of course).
I'll talk to NPCs and merchants and there again disappointing result.
1 - There is no audio dubbing, but just a little popup text.
2 - The interface dialogs looks exactly like that of ... diablo 2. : Roll:
Other points very badly screwed up (thought):
a - monitors purchases and sales are separate. By this I mean that if you are on the screen "Buy an item" you can not sell an item by right-clicking or moving it from one window to another.
You will need to exit this screen, talk to the NPC, click on "Sell year item" and move the item with the mouse ...
(A heresy in my opinion for a set of 2012).
b - There was no obvious gold coins in Path to Exile! : Shock:

It's the same, the inventory management is a pure copy / paste from that of Diablo 2.
Icons of items in very nearly the same as those mouth of Diablo 2! : Shock:
Items which take 1 to 6 squares (so that you will find all the full 30sec).
That is to say, they even copied the function of the Alt showing loot on the ground and the system of explosive barrels (even at sea) and the open boxes.
Loots are all identical!
There is no random generation of names and stats.
I looted 15 times the same moldy shield (6 armor)
15 times the same mass (no change in stats, the name or its icon).
Items that we can not even pick up (they are almost 6 squares each time) and anyway why bother?
They all suck, have no value and are traded in the city against fragments of scrolls of identification. : Lol:
A parchment for identification must be spinning 5 6 boxes of items to the NPC.

In short, I talk to NPCs, buy me a helmet that eats all of my scrolls and leaves the city.
There I am assailed from all sides.
I went from 1mob square kilometer (before entering the city) to 15 square meter after leaving. Oo
I kill mobs fairly easily and that drop loot 4 billion.
Just outside the city I'm already full inventory. : Shock:
I try to return to the city, in vain, I have not figured out how. Oo
I've looked, I have not found the interactive area, which allowed to start charging zone change.
Otherwise the music is rather plain, not to say "not good".
The soundtrack has no soul (and its composer no talent).
The game interface is also very dated (ugly).
There are no tooltips to compare two items (as is the case in WoW or Diablo 3 for example).
There is no minimap in the upper right to guide and map overlay (again as Diablo 2) is simply unreadable! : Shock:

The good thing is that I realized (playing this thing) how much was accomplished and Diablo 3 to 10,000 light years from Path of Exile.
Whatever is said or you may think, Diablo 3 is very well thought out, and damn everything but technically outdated.
To give you an image, it's like Path to Exile corresponded to Daggerfall (in terms of graphics rendering and technical levels) and Diablo 3 to Skyrim.
This is not even a gap between these two productions but galaxies!"
