there's no point in having dire wolves on your helm, unless you'd have them out to do damage for whatever reason
I use them for damage. With HoW and a tele stick on a moving target, they can deal damage very quickly. Also, three wolves between yourself and a charger/any paladin is great. It blocks them from hitting you and then they get clobbered by wolves, which do decent dmg (see below)

streetlight manifesto is excellent.
this build could also be decent. a few years ago i had a 2 summon, 30 frw, 20 fcr, 50-ish life, 60-ish mana circlet. NO idea where it is now. would you recommend something like that for this build?
It would be nice to have that as a swap. A drop from 428-502 dmg, to 279-344 would happen though. Maybe if you were planning on using wolves and didn't have a +3 wolves pelt in the first place.
However a 2/3 pelt for dire wolves would go from:
769 life per wolf
198-210 dmg per wolf
with HoW(167%) =529-561 dmg per wolf
to
855 life
225-242 dmg per wolf = 601 - 646 dmg per wolf
Also. Not sure if it's just single player. But that part about hard points is incorrect. I just did a hero-editor test of a 2/3 grizzly/3 dire pelt and a 2/3 grizzly pelt
went from 4387 life to 4875 life bear... I was under the same impression you were about hard points only.

Use reg wolves 5x>3x?
That's what I tested with my last build. Maxing Spirit wolves. Without a 2/3 spirit pelt, they did as much as my dire wolves do now, and 5 of them. And they added more ar. But they were fragile. It's so much better to have higher life summons.
