After riding motorcycles in Greece for 3 weeks, I officially have the itch to get back on two wheels. My experience comes from years and years of riding dirtbikes as a kid, and then years of track days on sportbikes as a track day junkie. Sold my motorcycles in 2014 when I left the Marine Corps so that I could focus on school and life in NJ.

I graduated earlier this year, and I've landed myself a pretty sick gig. I have the time and the money to spend on motorcycles again.

My decision is either between a supermoto, such as a DRZ400, KTM EXC, or building a 450f into a supermoto. I probably won't use the bike for commuting if I decide to go with a supermoto, but I live in the mountains of NJ with some pretty sick roads / offroading areas.

Either I do that or I go with a 690 Duke, use it to commute sometimes, and this allows my wife to be able to ride with me more often.

Anyone have any insight in the scene, specifically around the tri-state area?

Nice. I was looking at the 350 actually. I'd probably go with the first good deal I came across neare if I went to a supermoto.

I'm sort of leaning toward the Duke at the moment so I can use it to commute when the weather is nice. Plus, I live in the mountains, and we have some sick fresh roads out here to rip up.

Yea if you plan on commuting I'd say go for the duke. Commuting will probably get old on these bikes. Although my bike will easily do like 80mph on stock gearing it's pretty rung out. The few times I've ridden on the road/highway it likes to cruise around 55mph. But that's with my dirt tires at 10psi lol

I would eventually get both bikes. I am leaning more toward the duke first and then buying a second bike more as a project bike to turn into a supermoto.

My wife and I have been riding for years, so I think she would enjoy the ability to take the bike out and just cruise as well.
