newer to driving a manual.

the other day i put about 2000rpm on a hill and car stalls.

how much rpm do u guys typically add on a steep hill?

i dont want to burn the clutch or give it extra wear.

my driving teach me brought me in the hills the first day to learn like that

just go out there and practice, hold the clutch out and give more gas until you find the sweet spot, just takes practice

thanks. stalling is the most embarassing thing you can possibly do when driving.

Well....Hitting a parked car is usually quite a bit more embarrassing

When you’re first learning the clutch and how much RPM you need to engage it and keep it from rolling backwards, if have an e-brake pull it up so the car doesn’t move and then give it gas/let clutch out. When you feel it start to grab let the clutch down and roll away.

Or heel toe your break/clutch with one foot. No one told me how to do either it just made sense. E-brake was easier and let me focus more on finding the sweet spot. Goodluck

RPM will be very dependent on the engine and clutch. A small 4 cylinder will need more than a V8 and a diesel will do it at idle.

Beat me to it.

My old ranger would take a fair amount of throttle, usually 1.5-2k to get rolling on a hill.. My mustang would grab with little to no throttle.

like said above use your e-brake for learning. pull e-brake, gvie it gas and clutch and youll feel when the car wants to start moving upwards. then release the e-brake and ease of the clutch. after some practice you´ll know how much gas and clutch you have to give and can do it without the e-brake.
