Replaced pads only, rotors were in decent shape.

Horrible grinding sound coming from front left, slight burning smell (metal on metal?).

Any experience in what it might be? Haven't taken a look at it yet, won't be able to get it jacked up in a garage for 6 hours. Just looking for some insight. Didn't find a clear answer through other searches

Edit * brakes were incredible right after replacement, then all of a sudden this morning, the grinding sound

froze a piston in the caliper? pull it apart see if the pistons are working, or see if you fucked something up when replacing them

Anti rattle clips, backing plate, slider pins, seized piston, bad wear mating surface.

Are you hearing it when you are applying the brakes? Or only from a traffic stop, are you hearing this while slowly accelerating or even at a roll?

Pads could be unevenly worn due to rotors

Did you lubricate them properly when seating them?

Is this a "grinding" or a "Screeching sound"
