Alright so I have been battling an odd misfire at around 1500 rpm. I finally narrowed it down to the EGR valve I blocked it off to test it. I change the solenoid and the actually egr valve so those are new the only thing thats not new is the DPFE sensor which i cleaned with electronic cleaner.

The egr valve seems to be getting a command to open to much or something. so me not wanting to rape my mileage did this and the roughness and misfire stopped https://tinyurl.com/egrmod

Iw as curious as to what people think of the phenomenon.

The gas mileage was worse without the egr. the thing is a 1999 taurus sho and likes to drink premium already not so good on gas + I'm in new york. A tune to stop the cel will do nothing but stop from the light comming from coming on.

I didn't want to say it but yeah lmfao

Don't buy a "performance" vehicle if you have issues with gas mileage.
And the difference in gas mileage is insignificant.

Also, no shit you just tune out the CEL.
But that's very important that's why I mentioned it.

Unless you feel comfortable driving around not knowing if your car is actually throwing any codes?

haha touche well your right. I don't know much about tunes. but just dont feel dealing with hastle come inspection time. I'd rather fix it but im looking into a tune. But i dont understand exactly what is causing the egr to misfire the car at 1500.

When Im driving slow like in parking lots the egr opens and like rapes the combustion process and the tranny will bug the fuck out and slam into gear cause of the misfire.

I have since then again disable the egr with a vacuum cap. fuck egrs

It's unfortunate that your car isn't 1 year older than it is.

Would be exempt from all emissions testings.

Also I don't know how strict NY is, but here in Chicago as long as you don't have a CEL you get passed lol

I'm just puzzled as to why the egr is doing that. Unless I have a vacuum leak and when it opens the engine cant take it.

I gotta look up whether they check if your emissions equipment is there which Im pretty sure they dont

Probably a bad solenoid.

I change the solenoid. I think theres a little regulator on the vacuum line which regulates the vacuum from the solenoid to the egr valve. like a cylindrical plastic device in the plastic vacuum line. and ofc the dpfe sensor might be lying?

I checked for vacuum leaks like crazy with starting fluid everywhere on the motor in every vacuum spot
