Have had my 2012 cruze for 3 years now this June and haven't done brakes..ive noticed they are softer than other cars I drive but they don't squeak or anything like that...though they have become a bit shaky I would say when I'm going fast and have to press them down harder.

Is it time to check and change them and what should I change all 4 or just 2 front ?

Soft pedal is from your brake fluid needing changed along with pad wear.

Do you have 4 wheel discs or drums on the rear? Our cruze has 125k miles on it and I just changed the original brakes out. No warpage and there was some pad left. She does mostly highway driving with it though.

I've got 72k on it year 2012. Not sure about drums or pass I'd have to check. I assume they are softer because of the pad wear since I don't believe they e been changed since it was bought y the first owner

As the pad wears you are pushing more fluid into the caliper. The softness is actually from the fluid. Bleeding the brakes should be part of the brake change and it is really supposed to be done every 2-3 years at most.

What in the flying fuck?
You can literally get years out of pads if they don't get contaminated..

Every oil change, don't let the breaks brake before you cant break

There are wear indicators on most pads that will start squeaking when they need replaced.
