Hi there,

I am looking for a conversion kit for a 2004 Acura TSX. I have a double din aftermarket head unit. The thing is, I'm not looking to pay 200 dollars for a full dash kit when all i need is a small piece to use for the current head unit.

Here's the kit I was looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-7809B-Double-Single-Dash/dp/B0162EJOLS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488065709&sr=8-1&keywords=2004+acura+tsx+metra+-+double+din+stereo+dash+kit

The only thing I would need is that top portion with the AC vents/headunit slot (preferably just a spot with the headunit opening). I do not need the AC control nonsense or that thing all the way on the bottom.

Has anyone done one of these swaps? Is it actually more complicated than what I think it is to be? I'm not sure if there is a better way but I do not want to pay 200 dollars for this.

without the rest of it you lose the ability to use the ac and heater. the factory head unit is integrated into the air control system so you need stand alone hardware to replace it.

the only way around this is to buy the lower dash installation kit and have 2 head units in the dash.

To be honest I might just go with this. It's a lot less of a hastle, plus I don't have to worry about climate control not working. IDC if I lose out on the storage compartments, I barely use them anyway.
