Enduros/dirtbikes, generally get? before they're crap? not mileage per gallon, i mean Max miles before the bike breaks type thing

A whole lot more than that. Not including maintenance items like chains, sprockets, and valve adjustments most dual sport bikes go 20,000 miles or more without issue. If you maintain it poorly, far less. If you take a high strung motocross bike like any 250 or 450 4 stroke and adapt it to the road they will not last as long as a dedicated dual sport model like a klr or XR.

are you talking 450s, or something like a 300 2stroke?

My brother rides a 2015 honda 250L dual sport, has close to 5K on it, its like brand new.

4 strokes last a while before needing a rebuild.

If the bike is older, I would inspect seals and gaskets, replace fluids, and fire her up.

Theirs a reason it's being sold with so few miles on it, just hope it's because of lack of use and not something structurally related (frame crack/bent) or mechanical issues.
