Only punched myself in the face once getting those fucking springs in place

Put the auto-adjuster on wrong and spent nearly half an hour trying to figure out why the hell the drum wouldn't fit back over the shoes

So much easier to do this kinda stuff with someone who knows what they are doing for the first time

In the end though, I got good riveted shoes and an entire hardware kit open box and paid like $25 for the whole job, and it really made a huge difference, now I have nearly new ceramic pads on the fronts with nearly new rotors and all new drum shoes and hardware

All in all, worth a punch to the face....

Edit: Also got a 12,000# winch open box with the hitch mount plate for $150.... got the front hitch receiver installed and now I just have to slot her in and make the power connections, I even already have dual batteries :-D

Nice. Drums can be a bit of a bitch.

Really? I've always felt that drums were easier than fucking with caliper slides.

I guess it's just preference though.

Really? I have done several different disc front brakes and it's usually two screws the caliper pops off, remove the old pads then compress the piston install new pads and put the caliper back on. I think that's about as easy as it gets really

Vs. Removing three or four Springs that are under tension and then two retainer Springs which are all a massive pain in the ass without the right tools and I don't have specialized tools for replacing drum brakes since they only get replaced once in a blue moon. And then doing it all in her ass and stretching those same Springs back into place all over again

I've never had front drums

That and I have pretty much only done brakes on chevy trucks and cars

Amazon is the best though, I did the front brakes with brand new 1 piece Delco rotors and delco ceramic pads and the whole thing cost me about $50, all my shocks were open box at a steep discount...love it

I did a set last summer that were being particularly bitchy and hit myself in the cheekbone with a flathead screwdriver.

I pay my mechanic to do mine. Last time I did drums was when I got paid to do it, and I hated every second of it
