Was just doing a oil change.. drained it, and as I was filling and got to 4 qts I looked in and the whole valve cover is almost filled and won't drain.. I have never witnessed that before. Could the passages seriously be clogged? It's a friends car so I have no idea the condition of it.

It's possible I guess but there are quite few different passages for oil to drain back out of the valve train...

I would imagine it would have torched the rings before allowing that though.

I seriously didn't think it was possible yet I never did put my finger in there to feel it right away.. serious mind fuck. There was a metal plate running the length of the cover that was bronze ish color. Seriously looked like new oil in dim light.. same reflection. So my dumbass mistake.
I just don't recall ever having a plate there in any other car I've dealt with. I could typically see the rockers

It's there so you don't get splashed if you remove the oil cap with the engine running.
