fun, reliable car for 10k or less?
Finish college in a bit over a year, and I want to start thinking about which car to get.

Want: fun to drive, reliable or not huge maintenance costs, 4seater don't care if 2 or 4 door, must have enough room to fit a hockey stick. Last 5 years+ with regular maintenance

Automatic at this point but will be learning manual soon.

Will be used for : daily driving, long highway drives, maybe more . Just want a fun experience while driving opposed to the bore of my moms ford escape

I've never owned a car, have no idea what I'm doing but would love to learn and have something to work on and take care of.

Thanks for the help!

What I've been suggested so far are genesis 2.0 coupe, golf GTI, Mazda speed3.

Well I'm used to driving astrovans, mini vans and escapes. So most things are going to feel fast.

you still got a while before you're buying. find a race track that has track day motorcycle rentals and just get use to it.

or if you're scared of learning on asphalt go try a motorcross track.

I'm not buying a motorcycle , I've witnessed a couple of motorcycle accidents where the motorcyclists haven't made it.

Are you in North america? If you don't mind a slightly older car I would recommend a 98-02 camaro or trans am without bias. $10k will get you a really exceptionally nice one and it will likely have a couple thousand in tasteful mods already done. Exhaust, wheels, etc. 320-340whp, 25mpg hwy (auto), 28+mph hwy (manual), parts and repairs are dirt cheap, very reliable. It's easily your best bang for your buck at $10k.
