Manufacture states 18 city 28 hwy mpg.

I drive to work on two major highways (I go late and leave late so not much traffic) (hwy time 10-12 mins, city time 6-7 mins)

In practice, I still get around 19-20 mpg. (odometer change since last fill divided by fill tank amount on gas receipt)

Automatic transmission cuz nib.

Am I driving inefficiently in terms of gas mileage or fuck manufacturer claims?

Also if i go on full tank to another city in my state at 0 traffic, I only get around 24mpg (though i go around 80mph constantly which is 2.5-2.75k rpm but going to 70 would make it 2.1k rpm) so maybe that explains that.

it was always just an estimate.

changing your tires, different altitudes, headwinds, temperature changes can all affect the overall efficiency of the vehicle.

In that short of a trip the engine is only warm for the last half. That's why you see better mileage on a longer trip. Your highway mileage estimate is definitely at a lower speed than 80.

When a Manufacturer releases MPG ratings they are done and approved in the absolute best possible conditions for said vehicle.

AKA 99 times out of 100 you'll never see what they rate them for.

Slow down and you'll get better gas mileage. I'm a rocket scientist.

The new method is supposed to represent the average driver. I think they changes standards around 2008? All the ratings dropped about 10%. They did it because no one could achieve the stated mileage just like you said.

You just have a lead foot lol

Hey I get 18-19 in town and 22 on the hwy doing 80. That's with 8" lift and 37's in an 8400 lb truck.

My window sticker said 14mpg city and 17mpg hwy

It's amazing what happens with proper tuning and a few parts gone missing
