Today I got off work and went and try to start my car. It wouldn't start not even a crank. I then tried to put the car in neatrual and that's when I noticed the car gear selector on the instrument cluster was circling all of them. Like if it was saying in every gear. I tried googling and some people have it but still have the car drivable. Mine won't. they said to undo the negative cable. I took it off for like 30 seconds and put it back on and tried to start but still the same. My ride showed up so I couldn't wait cause I work in a strict place for visitors to come into. So I took it back off and I'll try again in the morning but if not I really need to get this car running again. Any one got any info on this?

you never got it to start right?

and i'm not familiar enough with the cluster to say anything specific, but maybe those selectors need battery power to reset them and it's unrelated to the problem.

did you try jump starting it?

Yeah I tried jumping it cause my trunk wouldn't pop open. My gauges and radio all turned on fine so I was thinking it was just really dead that why I couldn't pop open my trunk. Turns out if the key is in the on position the trunk button wouldn't work. But if the key was off it would. Idk if this has to do with anything I just found that strange. I'm tempted to drive back to work and hooking that negative cable back on to see if it would atlease make it to my house. But that's a 30 min drive just to test that lol.

I just found this on google.

NO START IN PARK OR NEUTRAL
1. Gearshift Linkage/Cable Mis-adjusted. 1. Adjust linkage/cable.
2. Neutral Sense Wire Open/Cut. 2. Check continuity with test lamp. Repair as required.
3. Park/Neutral Switch, or Transmission Range Sensor Faulty. 3. Refer to service section for test and replacement procedure.
4. Park/Neutral Switch, or Transmission Range Sensor Connection Faulty. 4. Connectors spread open. Repair.
5. Valve Body Manual Lever Assembly Bent/Worn/Broken. 5. Inspect lever assembly and replace if damaged.

I read the P/N switch is inside the tranny. How can I check adjustment on the gear shift linkage (Number. 1)? and how can I inspect the manual lever assembly (Number 5)?
