Folks,

I'm 26 and have nearly a years salary saved, just sitting there (how/why I should be investing this money isn't the point of this post, please refrain). I currently drive a 2014 Taurus that's fully loaded. Being born and raised in Detroit I've always had a thing for full size sedans and this soon-to-drop Lincoln has really caught my eye. In your guys opinion, is it worth it? It seems like it isn't just a ford with more chrome and bells and whistles like Lincolns have been lately, it seems like it's own car and I think it's really sharp.

My question is this: is it, in your opinion, worth getting and why?

Things to consider:
-I currently reside in NYC. This is a big one as the wear and tear is significant.
-id be leasing it and purchased my Taurus I have currently. About 14k left on the loan. Sticker was originally 35.
-I receive an A plan, 12% discount on Fords/Lincolns
-I like my current car but it has lost its luster.

Because you don't think the car itself is worth it or because of my current situation?

it sounds like you dont really need a car you just have money burning a hole in your pocket and youre just looking for something to spend it on. but its your money so if you want the lincoln go get it dont ask us to make your decision for you.

I can see why you'd say that. The question might better be phrased by asking if this car is a big enough jump forward to make it worth it in YOUR GUYS OPINION. It's a forum man. A place meant to discuss things. I'm looking for other opinions to consider beside my own from people who likely have more car knowledge and perhaps a more in depth understanding of newly released vehicles. Things like are Lincolns considered good vehicles being that they occupy kind of a strange price and luxury point, etc.

No I don't NEED a vehicle..? Look at virtually every post here, no one NEEDS a vehicle they're discussing new ones or mods or whatever because they want to

The continental isn't that much of a step up IMO. If you're gonna jump into something other than your current ride I would go with something nicer. It just looks Meh in my opinion. Not much nicer than your current ride (except maybe interior), but not worth it unless you absolutely want to have it.

It's an elongated Taurus with an upscale interior and deceptively disappointing powertrain options. If you're a Ford diehard I'm sure you'll enjoy it but there's better cars for the money. First impressions of the Continental say it's not a bad car but it definitely rips off Bentley styling and isn't comparable to similar sized offerings from the luxury big three.

i havent side by side compared a new continental to a taurus but just from the pics it reminds me of the ford five hundred. if you have a fully loaded taurus then i cant really see you getting the continental unless its completely decked out too which is reported to be upwards of 70k. theres really no reason to upgrade to another car that is luxury based if you are going to downgrade in options from what you have now.
