Next month im looking to get a different car
most likely selling the gto, as i dont really have the room for it, theres already 3 cars at my house, plus i dont really want to pay for insurance on 2 cars.
i bought the GTO in 2008, so ive had it for a really long time

im looking at tops about 30k for a used car. I would like something thats comfortable with nice interior that has some power

What does jsp think of the cars listed

I've never been in an e550 so I have no opinion on that but if you are a taller person you wont like the x series from BMW. I'm a little over 6 foot and I feel really cramped in them.

The S5 and ATS are both really nice cars. Never owned either but have rented both when out of town. If I had to pick personally i'd go with the ATS. Just seems like a more well put together car.

I had a '14 S5 for about a year. Was a good, fun car. Didn't do anything bad, almost everything was great (interior, the drive, comfort etc) but it could have been a more practical daily driver (my ex drove it during the winter and even though it was Quattro it wasn't great) or a more fun "toy" car. Sold it last summer. It was the 3.0L supercharged one not the NA 4.2 V8 but I've driven the upgraded version of that V8 in the RS5 and it's a great engine, sounds nice etc. No clue about reliability though.

Only one I have driven on the list is the Caddy and it was a damn nice car, plenty of luxury and plenty of pedal.

My Audi tech friend says the 4.2L V8 is a pile of garbage compared to their other engines

Personally, I love the engine note of the S5. The body is a little more plasticky than the newer RS4s and 5s. Problem with the motor, it's a five thousand dollar timing chain job, and earlier models were known to have shit tensioners, which caused failure. So unless you have an extra couple grand kicking it, for inital, emergency repairs, I'd go with the Caddy, which is much more user/USA friendly. I voted S5 though. :)

B8 S5 sounds really nice but it's slow as shit, can't get any meaningful gains from upgrades (unless u go expensive $10k supercharger route)

Also the car will probably need a good carbon cleaning around 45k-60k miles. They build up carbon like crazy in those engines.

Save up a bit more and get the B8.5 (3.0TFSI) it's lovely and for only like $1500 you can get a stage2+ pulley/belt/remap upgrade from APR or AWE and go to 400+ All wheel HP. (I own one and mine was consistently running 11.5s 1/4 miles at Englishtown Raceway Park during waterfest last year)

I hate old cars so I vote either BMW or S5.
2011 S5 is probably "more bragging rights" than a 2013 BMW 3 series (although I like the look of the BMW more)
