So I blew out a tire today on my front right. Got 2 new ones. They're "70,000 mile" tires and I was about 50k miles deep into them.

If I have 2 new tires and 2 semi-old tires on a front wheel drive car, should I put the new tires on the front or back?

Thanks!

New tires always go on the back unless you like hydroplane oversteer.

new tires on the back. if youre that far into those tires you might check your 2 old ones for tread depth and weathercracking and replace them if they arent looking that hot.

both of these are absolutely correct.

I would suggest replacing your two worn ones soon, and rotating the ones you just bought to the front, when you buy two brand new(er) ones.

It depends on where you live though.

When I was up north new tires always went on the front due to winter.

Can't hydroplane if you can't get moving

Aside from winter and living in the south, I do agree with you though.
