I bought a 1500 watt amp thinking it was a 500 amp.

Now incoming in the mail is the 750 watt @ 4ohm amp that was originally supposed to be used for a small 200 watt @ 4 ohm sub.

:| what to do.
think I can get away with turning the gain all the way down so I dont blow the sub lol?

I should have waited till I was up for at least an hour before I bought something

You usually have a certain amount of time to cancel the order before they ship it out.

I have Amazon prime

Send it back. Call Amazon Customer Service and explain you ordered the wrong thing. Try Googling AMAZON PRIME RETURN POLICY

Hope this helps.

Model of AMP?
I'd bet that you bought a pos "1500" watt amp that would struggle to even put out a true 500rms, esp at 4 ohms.

Yes, obviously you can turn the gain down though to prevent damage to the sub. Just remember the gain isn't a volume knob.

keep it. you dont want to push that amp that you were going to buy to its full potential. thats where dirty wattage comes nto play. if you have a sub that has a rms of 500 watts and you get a amp to pair it up to 500 watts.. you will not get 500 watts. clean at least. youll get 500 watts at full potential of the amp but it will be dirty wattage. youll most likely blow your sub.

always go overhead of your amp . that way there is enough room for you to adjust your gains correctly and get your wattage you want and stil not be maxing out the amps potential.
