What are the pros and cons of using E-85 in my 2012 Silverado?

Just use 87 octane...

In most cases e-85 (even though cheaper) ends up costing more due to the poor mileage results

In a 2012 silverado there really aren't any benefits. The Gen V trucks pick up a significant amount of power. Fuel economy will be about 2/3rd of 87 octane gas. Perhaps a bit more on a gen V due to the additional mid range and low end torque available making cruising speeds more efficient.

Pro of Flex Fuel vehicle... better fuel lines and pump...
Cons... decreased mileage until the ecm recognizes the crap fuel you are using and doesn't compensate for it anymore.

It runs much cleaner than regular gas, and if there's a lot of pumps in your area with e85, than there's really no point for you to use regular gas

It's a little more expensive than premium here and gets 3/4 to 2/3rd the fuel mileage as gas. There isn't really any point to run it unless your engine is octane limited.

Thanks for that.

Really? It's priced that high? There's no stations where I live but an hour north there's a lot. Premium here is around 3.10 and e85 sometimes cost around 2.2
