what you're looking at is a spindle-driven direct drive scooter with a 2-stroke 23cc motor. you know, same motor you'd find on a weedwacker.

about a month ago i received a badly beaten up non-functioning one for free. i fixed it, upgraded it, it's fucking skookum now and rides like a champ.

this was an extremely fun project to work on, and the best part is how cheap the parts are. it cost me about $300 to rebuild it and replace almost half of the parts.

does anybody have experience with these? the thing's got some serious pep for what is basically a dinky children's toy. currently tops out at 24mph.

they were extremely popular when i was in jr high/early highschool.

i never had one because i had bigger toys, but i had some friends with them that spent lot of $$ on them and got them cooking real good.

a few even raced them at some local club

I had one I got for christmas with a 49cc motor that me and a buddy switched out for a 98cc honda motor

thing fuckin boogied at like 55mph or so

that thing was fun as shit until the handle bar mount snapped and couldnt be replaced lol

I watched a guy hit 40 MPH on one going down a steep hill. It started to wobble and he bailed with no gear on. Fucked him up real good. I think he still has asphalt rocks under the skin on his knee cap.

Saw 2 of them one day racing down a local dragway, longest quarter ever but funny to watch and the announcer made it more worth it.
