my girlfriend has a prius that is @ 5.3k miles right now, which is 300 miles past the 5k mile suggested maintenance.

is it okay to keep driving? or will this cause some kind of damage

If this is it's first service it needs to go in. All they are going to do is change the oil/rotate the tires. It is important to get the break in oil out of it.
