This trans am has a stock bottom end ls1 with a mid 230's duration .600" lift cam and ported ls6 heads flowing through kooks 1 3/4" headers, 3" Y-pipe and Corsa catback. The intake side is a 104mm air lid, 85mm MAF and FAST 90 mm intake/90 mm throttle body. It was previously tuned by a "professional" tuner in Indiana. When the car came to me it was surging uncontrollably at idle both in neutral and in gear. Fuel trims were 20+% off. Timing was unrealistically high. The car would not cold start and would die when coming to a stop once warm. These mid 230's duration cams are known to be hard to tune because of the high dynamic compression ratio they carry. The airflow and idle timing took quite a while to dial in. This video was taken after I got it under control and started manipulating the AFR and overspeed/underspeed spark tables. The idle quality and sound are a personal preference. This is an auto car with a 3600 stall so it won't make a difference in drivability. This guy probably wants his to idle smoother than this which I can easily accomplish by decreasing the idle overspeed and underspeed spark values and richening the AFR. I figured I would share a video of it talking to you guys. If anyone wants to discuss EFI tuning, even basic OBDII questions, this is a good place.

Can you teach me basic EFI?

I only need to know how to jack up rail pressure, increase injection duration, and close off the VGT blades.

I hear that's how people put up the big numbers these days.

HPtuners supports Cummins and duramax now. I really want to learn diesel but I don't have my own guinea pig anymore.

It's stupid simple... I've only helped tune a few gas motors and it looks like a bowl of spaghetti compared to a diesel. There is however, like any motor, a ton of small changes to find peak RELIABLE power in a diesel. That's where diesels get complicated and you can tell the good from bad tuners.

Come down to Houston this fall and I'll give you a crack at the drag truck motor when I pull it out and put it on the dyno again.

I would do that but I hear Houston is not friendly to white people anymore. It's turning into a hispanic version of the south side of Chicago lol

There's some truth to that. No different than any other big city though.

You can take my word, I live far from the hood. I refuse to live in a non-gated community.

HOA's are easy to deal with though... Just do as you please and pay your fee's. The only HOA fine's I get are not watering my grass (because the 25 dollar ticket is cheaper than watering it) and They nailed me once for having my camper parked in the driveway over the weekend. I think that was 10 dollars?

Trust me though, you don't want to be in a neighborhood in houston without an HOA.

I'm not sure... My entire backyard is tore up in my house on the north west side. Plan is to move the shop in a few years to out that way so I'll sell my other house that I stay in during the week.

Putting in a pool with splash pad for the kiddos and extending my driveway so I can put up a car port for the camper and boats.
