I bought a 93 Lexus 400 for the summer.

Speedometer doesn't always kick in, pretty famous issue for these cars.

If anyone can do some better googling than me and find me a thread showing how to fix it, that'd be great.

It's not the speed sensor.

well if your positive its not the speed sensor on the tranny which those are notorious for going bad. try giving the cluster a good whack next time it acts up, if that makes it start working again you might just get away with replacing the cluster

or if its a cable, mess with the cable that connects to the cluster.

That's what I've been doing. I just hit a speed bump and it knocks
It into working again. Gonna do some research tonight and see
If I can replace it myself for cheap. I found a guy who does it
For 300$ but he's a 7 hour drive away...

especially considering its a 4400lb boat. in the cressida i got better mileage than the 7m did.

i honestly can't tell you what the issue is, because i ran a cressida cable speedo with the w58. never ran into the issue.

the UCF10/11 cluster/speedo is 100% digital. could very well be a solder or ground on the cluster PCB. try a junkyard cluster.
