I've never personally owned one but I hear they are very similar to Ferrari's in the aspect that they are hot to drive.

Haha.

Jokes aside. The early ones had oiling issues, which resulted, sometimes, in oil getting leaking onto the exhaust manifold, leading to the famous "caught fire" issue.

I'm fairly sure the later cars resolved this.

I've driven a fairly well sorted one - it honestly was a blaaast! Mid engine cars are pretty special, from a driver's perspective.

That said, the added irritation of maintaining a mid engine car has kept me from buying one, and always will. If I'm going mid engine, it's going to be Lotus.

I'm tempted on a mr2 with a honda swapped engine but I'd feel awfully fast and furious-like....

That said - I've seen some bad add Fieros with an olds/pontiac 3.8l s/c swapped into it on youtube-

Not to be a total kill-joy, a close (female) friend was killed in an accident when she was driving a Fiero.

Too fast.....off road, bad crash, trapped in car....fire.....yea = Ugly scene.

*Some day I'll make a bad ass Fiero 24H/lemons car.

For example, here is a vid of a Fiero which was for sale not too long ago and had an engine swap. I think it would be fun but.......yea. You're still starting with a Fiero.....how much you wanna "swap" all depends.

Do an Espirit with a LS swap or.......this is tempting. Kinda along the lines of a s/c 3.8 GM, I suppose.

My dad and uncle used to own one. Dad had the (86?) and uncle had the (88?) iirc the 1988 one looks better and less square. Looked cool as hell. Don't know if they hever had trouble with them though.

Have a 84 with 40K.
They're fun to drive.
Imo go for one with the Iron Duke in it.
Or swap it a 3800.
If mechanically inclined enough a 350.
