My brother is looking for a new ride in a few months. Likes the Toyota 4runner but they usually are a bit more expensive than the Nissan Xterra.

We have a few legit mechanics around here and mostly a bunch of idiots, like myself..... looking for all opinions, wondering if anyone's heard of horror stories (major design flaws) on the Nissan Xterra.

If his idea of offroading is accidentally cutting the driveway to tight and.getting grassblades on his tires than sure. Would be a fine dd.
Anything past that extent, would rather stick dick in toaster.

Don't they come with the 3.7 or 3.5 z motor?

it in and of it self is a major design flaw.... just look at it

Drove around a '11 or '12 with an upgraded suspension. Was a pretty smooth drive.

We are not talking about a red Camaro.

My frontier has the 4.0 (not sure if they updated the motor on newer ones, mines an 05, yes its the z motor)

my frontier has 200k and i beat the shit out of it, i dislike the truck all in all but it seems to have been reliable, 200k miles on it, it uses lots of oil, but as long as you tend to it from time to time its ok, it doesn't tow good, stop good, accelerate good but it gets there every time (except when it runs out of gas because the gas guage doesnt work)

Never did the timing belt/chain on this thing either, pretty impressed with 200k out of it the way i drive it.
