A 21 year old female was driving too fast, hits a school bus and was killed.

Her car-

The school bus-

Typical of today's cars which have more bends and less welds and everything is calculated off of tensile strength. When you crash into a school bus and/or go off road into a tree, tensile strength means jack shit.

Jeebus. Head on crash? The front-end of the bus is demolished.

The bus *is* bigger, though. More area to transfer kinetic energy over. Not surprised the car wound up the way it did.

Yeah I know right?
Like when I bought my 01 Silverado 1500 I looked at the crash test vs a new 2014 one.
At 35mph my truck got totally fucked, thing crumpled and folded...I woulda hate to have been in it.
The new 2014 was no where near the same, cab was untouched by far.

The school bus looks new and it didnt have any damage to the cab part.
I'm pretty sure the car got fucked up because it ran into something 5x it's size..

Also the part where you think it should have more welds and less 'bends',, welds are also calculated in tensile strength.. if you're burning a 7018 rod, the 70 part means 70,000 tensile strength

Just by looking at the amount of damage on the bus, she was flying...

Car vs bus at extremely high speeds I don't care what kind of " safe car " you are driving , it's going to get mangled.

Very true what people has said above. My threads title would have been more accurate if more specific. Today's mass produced foreign econo-boxes (not actual bodies on frame) are very cheap. You see more and more cars practically "explode" into mass pieces nowadays than ever before.

e/ - news later reported beer cans were found at scene and inside of her car. Other drivers reported her as driving erratic.

No they don't, lol. This isn't even a little correct..

Modern cars, even the foreign eco boxes, are far more safe than older cars..
