Seems a cottage manufacturer in Texas is putting the DeLorean back in production.
Looks like they'll be asking just shy of $100k for a new one.
$100k.
For a car that's sub-150 hp stock, at 2700 lb. curb weight.
Yeah... no. I don't value my nostalgia that much. =p

Fuck the Delorean. Car was such a piece of shit, that even with the movie skyrocketing its popularity is still couldn't last more than a few years. Bring back some real cars for fuck sake.

I'm sure you can find a few fans that wont mind chucking up that kind of money for it.

The article I read said that bought all of the original Delorean inventory and have enough parts to build 300 new cars from NOS. They couldn't because of copyright issues which were resolved by a bill that was passed in December. They've been repairing, restoring, selling parts, and building Deloreans since the mid 90s. The only difference now is they will be able to market them as new cars with new VINs. They are talking about bigger wheels and brakes, better suspension, and 300hp as upgrades.

...so, I read a bit more on it, and looks like they're going to spec it out with some modern amenities; modern engine, tranny, suspension, among things.
Still, they need to offer something pretty d@mn nice for 100k.
